Whether a basement is used as an entertainment center, storage area or utility room, etc., it is important to maintain the health and safety of this area of the home.
Homeowners in Marion, OH, have lived in their house for 40 years. For the last 10 years, they have been dealing with a glaring problem in the basement. Water seeped inside through the wall and floor joint every time it rained. This resulted in puddles and even streams of water on the floor.
The homeowners would like to use the basement for storage, but it is useless in its current condition. Motivated to address this issue once and for all, the owners began to research how to best address this problem. They came across Ohio Basement Authority’s website, and they were eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help them.
They met with one of our inspectors who completed a thorough evaluation of the basement. Along with noticing the obvious leakage problem, the inspector pointed out that one of the foundation walls was cracking and slightly tilting inward. Not only does this affect the structural integrity of the wall and home, water could easily be seeping through these cracks and into the home. Our inspector then recommended some of our reliable basement waterproofing and foundation repair solutions.
The homeowners were excited for Michael Gramly to lead his crew in installing these perfect permanent solutions.
The problematic foundation wall was addressed by installing several Wall Anchors to permanently stabilize and help straighten it. These durable galvanized steel anchors not only reinforce the walls, their unique design also allows them to be tightened for wall improvement.
The basement was then waterproofed with the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri Pro x sump pump. Both of these systems work hand in hand to keep seeping water out of the basement and away from stored items. BasementGutter is placed in the sub-floor to catch any seeping water from the walls and floor.
This water is then directed to the SafeDri Pro x sump pump and then pumped out of the home. The SafeDri features a ½ horsepower sump pump that can pump up to 2,200 gallons of water out of the basement per hour. While there is one pump inside the liner, this system was installed using the larger SafeDri Triple liner to allow for easy future upgrades to the system.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these trustworthy solutions will always keep the basement of their forever home dry and stable.
