Permanently Waterproofing a Leaking Basement in Kirkersville, OH

Challenge

The longer homeowners live in their houses, the more likely it is that they will have to address various repair needs.

While they lived in their house for 20 years, homeowners in Kirkersville, OH, recently began to notice a problem in their basement was only getting worse. Water was leaking into the basement through the floor and foundation walls, leaving visible damage behind. The existing pedestal sump pump system also was failing to keep up with this seeping water.

The owners were concerned with flooding and damage to their personal items stored in the basement, so they decided to fix the issue once and for all. They were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority after seeing some of our TV ads to learn more about how we could help them waterproof their basement. They met with one of our inspectors, who after completing a thorough evaluation of the basement presented the owners with some of our reliable basement waterproofing solutions.

Solution

One of our crews then installed these products that included the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri Prox sump pump.

The basement’s perimeter was excavated for the BasementGutter installation. BasementGutter is designed to sit in the sub-floor and atop the footing to accept seeping water from the walls and floor. Any water intercepted by the BasementGutter system is then directed to the SafeDri Prox system to be pumped out of the basement and away from the home’s foundation.

The SafeDri Prox sump pump will always work to keep the basement dry. The SafeDri features a ½ horsepower sump pump that can pump up to 2,200 gallons of water out of the basement per hour. The system was installed in the larger SafeDri Triple liner to allow for easy future upgrades.

Additionally, a FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line. This attachment allows water being pumped out of the home to continue to exit the discharge line even if the line freezes or becomes blocked.

The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these trustworthy solutions will help keep their home dry and healthy for many years to come.
