After living in his house for a few years, a homeowner in Pickerington, OH, decided he wanted to use the crawl space adjacent to his basement for storage. The problem was that the crawl space seemed to be quite dirty and unhealthy. The insulation and floor liner was failing, and debris was strewn about the crawl space.
The homeowner knew he could count on Ohio Basement Authority for the right solution, as one of his relatives works for the company. After hearing about how we help homeowners create healthier living environments, the owner was eager to contact us to learn more about how we could help him.
He met with one of our inspectors who thoroughly evaluated the condition of the crawl space. Our inspector then recommended some of our reliable crawl space repair solutions.
One of our expert crews, led by Foreman Jose De Jesus Tellez Ortiz, then transformed the crawl space with an encapsulation project.
The crew first removed the debris and failing insulation and lining from the crawl space. Thick drainage matting was then placed on the crawl space floor to enhance the durability of the encapsulation system. insulation panels then were placed on top of the drainage matting for the same reason, as well as to help insulate the crawl space floor.
The crawl space was then encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner. The thick and durable CrawlSeal liner is very similar to swimming pool liner. It completely seals the crawl space and isolates it from the earth. CrawlSeal serves as a moisture and vapor barrier, and it helps with crawl space insulation. It automatically brightens the crawl space, and makes the area ideal to use for storage.
We further insulated the crawl space by applying spray foam insulation to the band board in between the floor joists
The homeowner was pleased these trustworthy solutions were installed to help give him a healthier and more functional crawl space.
