While preparing to complete various repair projects in a home in Columbus, OH, a general contractor noticed an area of the basement where a small window used to be. The homeowner, who has briefly lived in the house, also could potentially use the basement as livable space.
The International Residential Code for One-and Two-Family Dwellings states, “Basements, habitable attics, and every sleeping room shall have at least one operable emergency escape and rescue opening."
Because the general contractor has worked with Ohio Basement Authority on other repair projects, he knew he could count on us to meet the code requirements with a new egress window installation.
We completed the project in two days, and the contractor and the homeowner are happy with the result of the egress window installation.
