After living in their house for several years, homeowners in Circleville, OH, began to question the health of their living environment. They started to notice some mold growth and dampness on the upper floors of the house.
While they rarely venture into the crawl space, they wondered if these problems could be because of this area underneath the house. They were right to check, as a quick peek inside revealed water seepage, failing insulation and other unhealthy conditions.
The homeowners wanted to fix these issues right away. They were motivated to contact Ohio Basement Authority after seeing some of our TV ads, and they met with one of our inspectors. The inspector assessed the condition of the crawl space and then recommended some of our reliable repair solutions to transform the area’s health and appearance.
One of our crews waterproofed the crawl space by installing the CrawlDrain drainage system along the perimeter. This system is designed to accept seeping water from the walls and floor. This water is then directed to one of the two SafeDri Triple sump pumps that was installed in the large crawl space. These powerful sump pump systems then pump the water out of the crawl space and away from the home’s foundation. FreezeGuards also were attached to the exterior sump pump discharge lines.
The crawl space also was encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner. This thick and durable liner, which is similar to swimming pool liner, completely isolates the crawl space from the earth. It also prevents moisture and vapor intrusion, and it helps insulate the crawl space. Vent covers also were placed on the home’s exterior to further seal the crawl space.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these reliable solutions were installed and will work together to help keep their home safe and healthy.
