After living in their house for several years, homeowners in Athens, OH, recently took a peek inside the crawl space under their house. They found this area to be in a state of disrepair with failing floor lining and insulation, as well as standing water in several areas. These conditions greatly concerned the homeowners, who plan to live in the house for many years. They did not want the nasty crawl space to affect the health of the rest of the home.
As they began to research how to best address these issues, the homeowners saw Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads. They were then motivated to contact us to learn more about how we could help them. They met with one of our inspectors who ventured into the crawl space to evaluate the condition of this area. Our inspector then recommended some of our reliable crawl space repair solutions.
One of our crews waterproofed the crawl space with the CrawlDrain drainage system and SafeDri sump pump. CrawlDrain was installed throughout the crawl space perimeter so it would catch seeping water from the walls and floor. This water is then directed to the SafeDri sump pump and pumped out of the crawl space. A FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line, as well.
The crawl space was then encapsulated in Crawlseal liner. This thick and durable liner completely isolates the crawl space from the earth, serves as a moisture and vapor barrier, and helps insulate the crawl space. Additionally, several vent covers were placed on the home’s exterior to further seal the crawl space from outside air, precipitation and pests.
The homeowners can rest easier knowing their forever home is protected by these trustworthy solutions.
