It was easy to fall in love with a 100-year-old house, but new homeowners in Baltimore, OH, knew they needed to tackle some much-needed repair projects before moving in and making the home their own. Something they noticed right away and wanted to promptly address was areas of sagging and uneven floors.
The owners started to conduct some online research, and they were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority for further guidance after learning about our company online. They met with one of our inspectors, Jeff Floit, who ventured into the crawl space to thoroughly evaluate the situation. Along with an outdated, failing support system, Jeff also noticed issues with water and moisture in the crawl space. He discussed his findings with the homeowners, as well as their repair goals, and he then recommended some of our reliable crawl space and foundation repair solutions.
One of our crews, led by Foreman Milton Castro, then stabilized the floor and floor joists with supplemental steel beams reinforced by IntelliJacks. The crawl space was waterproofed with the CrawlDrain drainage system and SafeDri Pro sump pump. The crew then encapsulated the crawl space in CrawlSeal liner, which completely isolates the area from the earth.
Additionally, a Dehumidifier was installed to clean and filter the air, control moisture and humidity, and reduce odors and the potential for mold growth. Vent covers also were placed on the home’s exterior to further seal the area from outside air, precipitation and pests.
The homeowners are pleased to have a safer and healthier crawl space and home because of these trustworthy repairs.
