Since moving into her house a few years ago, a homeowner in Portsmouth, OH, noticed some problems with her living environment. She never goes into the crawl space, but she had a feeling that issues like dampness and cold floors originated from the area under the house.
The owner wanted to address these issues once and for all. After seeing Ohio Basement Authority’s service vehicles at other homes around town, she was motivated to contact us to learn more about how we could help her. She met with Inspector Andy Kennedy who completed a thorough evaluation of the crawl space. Andy then discussed his findings with the owner, as well as her repair goals, and he recommended our reliable crawl space repair solutions.
One of our crews then transformed the nasty crawl space into a healthier area. First, they removed the failing insulation, liner and other debris from the crawl space. Then they placed drainage matting on the floor and ExTremeBloc insulation panels on the walls.
The crawl space was then encapsulated in thick and durable CrawlSeal liner. This liner completely seals the crawl space from the earth, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and also helps in insulating the crawl space. Spray foam also was applied to the band joists for further insulation. Additionally, the wooden crawl space access door was replaced by an access door, and exterior vent covers were placed over the vents.
The homeowner now has peace of mind knowing these trustworthy repairs have helped her create a safer and healthier living environment that she will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
