Even though homeowners have lived in their London, OH, house for about one year, the nearly 150-year-old structure had been in the family for many years. They didn’t notice many issues with the house itself, but cracks in the walls of the 30-year-old attached garage were getting worse.
Concerned with the safety and structural integrity of the garage, the owners wanted to have the problems fixed before any serious damage resulted. The owners contacted Ohio Basement Authority after finding our website, and they met with one of our inspectors. After thoroughly evaluating the problematic walls, our inspector recommended the perfect solution to address the settling foundation walls.
When Foreman Ryan Toledo and his crew arrived to complete the foundation repair project, they found the basement flooded and had taken in several inches of water. The crew first dried out the basement by pumping the water out, then they installed waterproofing solutions including the BasementGutter drainage system and SafeDri sump pump.
Then, the crew installed several Push Piers underneath the settling foundation walls. These heavy-duty, galvanized steel piers are driven deep into the soil to permanently stabilize the foundation walls and offer the best opportunity to lift them back to level.
The homeowners are happy to now have a dry basement and structurally stable garage.
