Album Description
After living in her house for a few years, a homeowner in Newark, OH, wanted to make sure her multi-functional basement was up to code.
According to the International Code for One-and Two-Family Dwellings, “Basements, habitable attics, and every sleeping room shall have at least one operable emergency escape and rescue opening.” This applies to basements, as well. The solution is to have an egress window system installed.
The owner frequently has visiting family stay with her. While the basement bedrooms have windows, they are too small to be considered egress windows.
The owner began to research how to best address this issue, and she was eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority after learning about our company online. She met with Inspector Drew Black, who confirmed the necessity of the window system.
One of our crews then completed the egress window installation. The owner is pleased this project was completed to enhance the safety of her home.
