Homeowners in Powell, OH, have lived in their house for four years. Recently, however, they started to wonder about how effective their drainage system was. They suspected the exterior sump pump discharge line was either blocked or damage, and they were concerned that water from the sump pump could end up back in the basement.
As they started to research possible repairs, the owners found Ohio Basement Authority’s website and they were eager to contact us for further guidance. They met with one of our service technicians who first investigated the sump pump system. He then took a look at the exterior drainage system, and he suggested having these lines updated.
One of our crews, led by Foreman Jimmy Cerminara, then took great care to excavate the yard to gain access to the existing discharge lines. They removed these lines and then used more durable 3” pipes for the exterior drainage line. This line also was directed to drain at the curb in front of the house. We also placed a FreezeGuard on the exterior sump pump discharge line to prevent flooding if the line freezes or becomes blocked.
The owners are happy to have an updated exterior drainage system that will help keep their home dry.
