Homeowners in Mount Sterling, OH, have lived in their house since it was built 18 years ago. Recently, however, they started to notice problems with one of the basement walls. This foundation wall had a lengthy horizontal crack, and it was slightly tilting inward.
The owners were concerned with these signs of wall failure, and they wanted to address them sooner rather than later. Once they saw some of Ohio Basement Authority’s TV ads, the owners wanted to contact us for further guidance. They met with one of our inspectors who assessed the condition of the wall. Our inspector then presented the owners with one of our reliable foundation repair solutions.
Foreman Ben O’Bryant and his crew installed several Wall Anchors along the wall. First, holes were carefully augured in the yard for the earth anchors that are part of the system. Small holes were then drilled through the basement walls. Galvanized steel rods were driven out and earth anchors were installed and attached to the rods. Once the earth anchors were attached to the exterior portions of the rods, wall plates were attached to seat the earth anchors.
These anchors permanently stabilize the walls, prevent any further cracking or inward bowing, and offer the best opportunity to straighten the walls. They can be adjusted at intervals for potential wall improvement.
The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this trustworthy repair has resolved the foundation issue and helped them create a safer living environment.
