It was a real pleasure doing business with Ohio Basement Authority. They're honest, courteous and professional, and they do the job right. I highly recommend them, and I would call them again in a heartbeat.
Communication with everyone in the company was great, from the office staff I spoke with on the phone to the work crew. A major plus: when you call OBA, you get a real human being, not an automated answering system!
The inspector that was sent out, was great - polite, personable and thorough. He did a visual inspection and took measurements of the walls to check for any settling or bowing. He then gave me a detailed explanation of what was behind the cracking. The garage foundation needed work, but the house foundation was fine. He was honest and proposed a solution for the garage foundation, but didn't try to sell me any unnecessary work on the house. He described the garage repair procedure in detail and answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly. Even though the consultation lasted about two hours and was free, he didn't use any high-pressure tactics to get me to sign a work contract with OBA.
Thanks to Murphy's Law, the work happened to fall on some of the coldest days in central Ohio this winter. But, just like the US Postal Service, neither snow, nor ice, nor arctic temperatures kept Ryan, the foreman, and his crew members, Nate and Jamie, from the swift completion of their scheduled work! They spent three days outside in single-digit temps in a trench filled knee-high with frigid water and remained courteous and cheerful. They didn't try and rush the job to get out of the cold, but paid attention to detail and took the time to do a thorough and professional job. They showed up when they said they would, and they completed the job right on schedule. They even adjusted their schedule to squeeze in some unforeseen work, the installation of a sump pump in the house basement. Ryan informed me daily of the work planned for that day, and then checked in regularly during the day to keep me apprised of the crew's progress. He and his crew are conscientious and worked really hard to do things right and fix the problem at its source, not just put a Band-Aid on it. The crew's conscientiousness also extended to my neighbor. The back of my garage is very close to my neighbor's fence, which inadvertently got damaged while a trench was being dug. Nate replaced the damaged section of fence and even left an extra post and a bit more fencing in case the neighbor needed it. That thoughtfulness definitely helped me maintain a good relationship with my neighbor! The basement door to the outside has been hard to shut for years, so when Ryan went to shut it just before the crew left, he sanded it a bit to help it close better. Now that's service!
The crew wore shoe covers when in the interior of the house to keep it clean, and when they were finished with the project they did a great clean-up job. They picked up the debris, packaging, etc., and even swept the basement floor!

What made you choose our company:
Consistently great ratings on Yelp, and positive reviews on your own website made me call you initially. Then your inspector made a favorable impression with his thorough inspection and relaxed sales approach (no high-pressure sales tactics). After I contacted the references you sent me and heard that they were quite pleased with the work you did, I was sure OBA was the right company for the job. And the wonderful crew of Ryan, Nate and Jamie confirmed that I made the right choice. Thank you very much!
