How confident are you in your basement waterproofing system? If a powerful thunderstorm hits during the night, can you sleep soundly or are you worried you will wake up to a flooded basement?
Water can enter homes and lead to puddles or flooding for many reasons. That is why it is important to have a properly functioning waterproofing system. Some basements may be lacking these systems, and others fall victim to failing systems.
Ohio Basement Authority installs the BasementGutter interior drainage system to catch any seeping water from the wall and wall-floor joint. This water is then drained to a sump pump system that will effectively pump it out of the basement and away from the home’s foundation.
The sump pump is the heart of the waterproofing system, so having a reliable sump pump is crucial. Even if you are in a bind, you shouldn’t settle for the run of the mill sump pump. Typical sump pump systems such as pedestal sump pumps, water-powered pumps, and “floor suckers” can get the job done, but they may not have a long lifespan or high capacity.
Ohio Basement Authority offers several excellent sump pump systems to meet your basement waterproofing needs. One of these is the “king of sump pump systems” – the SafeDri Triple system. This system gives your home triple the pumping power and protection from flooding.
Pump 1 is a cast-iron Zoeller® 1/3 hp pump set on the lowest level inside the liner. It can pump more than 2,000 gallons of water per hour.
If the first pump fails or cannot accommodate heavy volumes of water, Pump 2 kicks on. This second pump is a Zoeller® ½ hp pump that is set a bit higher in the liner. It can pump up to almost 4,000 additional gallons of water per hour.
The third pumping mechanism is the SafeDri battery backup sump pump system that will take over in the event of a power outage or sump failure. This heavy-duty pump can pump more than 11,500 gallons of water on a fully charged battery.
The SafeDri Triple system has other beneficial features typical sump pump systems lack.
Unlike common systems that are installed in metal basins, the SafeDri Triple system is housed in a heavy-duty polyethylene twin liner. The pumps inside the liner are placed on stands so they will be raised away from any silt or sediment that may settle at the bottom of the sump pit.
While many systems are partially open or have no lid at all, the SafeDri Triple is covered by an airtight lid that keeps odors and humidity out and protects the system from debris from the basement floor. Another piece on the lid is an Alarm that sounds off to alert you of any water that has risen past the point where the pumps should have turned on. This gives you time to contact us so we can check on and service the system.
