Homeowners in Worthington, OH, fell in love with the historic charm of their more than 100-year-old house a few years ago. However, they were concerned with water intrusion in the basement.
They wanted to make sure the home would be a safe and dry living environment, so they contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company on our website. We met the challenge of waterproofing a stone basement head-on, and installed several permanent solutions that will always keep the basement dry.
These included the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri Battery Back-Up sump pump system. These products create the perfect waterproofing combination because the BasementGutter catches any seeping water and directs it to the SafeDri, which pumps it out of the basement and away from the foundation. The powerful sump pump system was installed inside the larger SafeDri sump pump liner for easy future system upgrades.
New downspout conductor lines were also installed on the property, and a FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line. An energy-efficient dehumidifier was also installed to dry and filter the air, as well as prevent mold and reduce odors.
The owners were also concerned with the stone walls, so the CrawlSeal wall system was installed. CrawlSeal is more commonly used to encapsulate crawl spaces, but this durable liner can also be installed on foundation walls. Along with improving the walls’ appearance, CrawlSeal stops water vapor from permeating the walls and drains wall leaks.
The owners were excited these various permanent solutions were installed so their home will be a healthier living environment for many more years to come.
