A homeowner in Columbus, OH, was worried about her basement needing extensive work, but working with Ohio Basement Authority gave her peace of mind and the solutions she needed.
She noticed significant water intrusion all around her basement during heavy rains, as well as some leaking even with light rain. She uses the basement as a workshop and for storage, and various belongings like books and newspapers were damaged by the water intrusion.
Ohio Basement Authority Inspector Brendan Kent thoroughly inspected her home and found the source of the leaking to be bowing and cracked walls in the 75-year-old house.
The BasementGutter sub-floor drainage system was installed around the basement’s perimeter to intercept any water. The water will drain into the powerful SafeDri Triple sump pump that features three pumps, including battery back-up pumping system that protects the basement even in the event of a power outage.
Our crew also completed a structural support project by installing seven Wall Anchors. After sod is carefully removed and an earth anchor hole is augured, a small hole is drilled through the basement wall and a rod is driven out. An earth anchor is installed and attached to the rod, then a wall plate is attached and tightened. The exterior hole is backfilled and sod is replaced. These Wall Anchors stabilize the basement walls and offer the best opportunity to straighten the walls without the cost and disruption of foundation replacement.
Moldy paneling was also removed, and all wall cracks were sealed.
The homeowner is happy to now have a basement that will be dry all the time, as well as a home that is structurally sound.
