During the few years that they have lived in their house, homeowners in Hilliard, OH, have noticed problems stemming from the partial crawl space just off of the basement. This area seemed to be cold, resulting in cold floors above the crawl space during the wintertime.
This was because the crawl space lacked proper insulation. There also was some debris and failing plastic liner on the gravel crawl space floor, and the walls showed evidence of efflorescence or mold.
Concerned for the health of their home and wanting a more functional crawl space, the owners began to research potential repair options and companies. They were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company through our website. The owners met with one of our experienced inspectors who presented them with a variety of repair options.
The homeowners put the project on the back burner for some time, but were motivated to move forward after they saw some of our staff manning our booth at a local home and garden show.
The homeowners were eager for one of our expert crawl space repair crews, led by Foreman Jose De Jesus Tellez Ortiz, to transform this unhealthy area of their home.
After removing all of the nuisances from the crawl space, we first placed thick drainage matting on the crawl space floor. This enhances the durability of the rest of the crawl space repair system. Foam insulation panels were then placed on top of the drainage matting to help insulate the crawl space floor and give it more cushion. An additional insulation measure we took was installing ExTremeBloc panels on the walls.
The crawl space was then encapsulated in thick and durable CrawlSeal liner. This liner completely isolates the crawl space from the earth, and it serves as a moisture and vapor barrier.
All of these products work together to help create a healthier living environment that is ideal for storage. The homeowners are pleased they will now have a warmer and more functional crawl space and home that they will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
