Challenge
After living in her house for 20 years, a homeowner in Dublin, OH, began noticing problems with her crawl space. She only went into the crawl space to store and retrieve holiday decorations and other items, but realized it wasn’t the healthiest place to put her belongings.
Some issues she noticed were moisture and leakage. Not wanting them to become bigger problems, she contacted Ohio Basement Authority. Inspector Matt Wojciechowski found failing insulation and foundation walls damaged by water intrusion and moisture.
Solution
Per Matt’s recommendation, one of our crews placed drainage matting on the crawl space floor, then completely encapsulated the area in CrawlSeal.
The drainage matting creates a drainage space under CrawlSeal for any water to flow beneath. It also adds durability, puncture resistance, and a thermal break. The thick CrawlSeal liner covers the floor and walls. It completely isolates the area from the earth, and it is tough enough to crawl on.
The homeowner is now happy to have a healthier area for storage space because of these products that also carry a 25-year warranty.
