Schedule Your Free Inspection

While homeowners in Ashville, OH, have lived in their house for a few years, the residence has remained in the same family for many years. The owners wanted to keep it that way, and they planned to live in the house for the foreseeable future.

As the owners started to refinance the house, a few things came up during an inspection. The walls were cracking as well as tilting inward in some areas. The owners wanted to have these issues addressed as soon as possible.

After hearing great things about Ohio Basement Authority, the owners wanted to give us a call to learn more about how we could help them. One of our inspectors visited to complete a thorough evaluation of the home and its problematic foundation walls. Our inspector then recommended one of our many reliable foundation repair solutions.

Foreman Zach Phillips and his crew then permanently reinforced the walls with many Carbon Fiber supports. These sturdy supports stabilize the walls and hold them in their current positions, and they also prevent any further cracking or bowing in the areas where they are installed.

To install these supports, the areas of the walls where they will be placed are sanded down. This ensures the walls will be clean and that the Carbon Fiber supports will firmly adhere to the walls. Then, holes are knocked into the bottom courses of block along the path of the Carbon Fiber supports. Pieces of rebar, or reinforcing steel, are placed in these holes to anchor the bottom of the walls. The holes are then filled and patched with cement.

Once this cement is dry, strong epoxy resin is then applied to the walls and the Carbon Fiber strips. Small steel brackets are attached to the sill plate on the top of the walls to anchor the Carbon Fiber supports. Another coat of epoxy resin is applied to the straps to seal them against the walls.

These supports are dark in color, but their low profile allows them to easily be concealed by paint, drywall or other basement finishing materials.

The owners now have peace of mind knowing the home will be safe and stable because of this trustworthy repair project.
