Crawl Space Encapsulation in Urbana, OH
A homeowner in Urbana, OH, has lived in his house since it was built 28 years ago. He never goes into the crawl space, but he suspected recent issues he noticed in his house might be coming from this area. The floors were cold in the winter, and the house seemed musty and humid. After learning more about Ohio Basement Authority on our website, he was eager to contact us for a permanent solution. We sealed the crawl space by encapsulating it in CrawlSeal liner. This thick liner completely isolates the home environment from the earth, and it acts as a moisture and vapor barrier. CrawlSeal also helps insulate the crawl space, as well as improve its appearance. The vents were blocked off by installing vent covers over them to prevent outside air, precipitation and pests from entering the crawl space. The homeowner now has peace of mind knowing the crawl space, as well as the rest of his house, will be a healthier living environment because of this reliable repair solution.
Crawl Space Waterproofing and Encapsulation in Mechanicsburg, OH
During the 15 years that they have lived in their house, homeowners in Mechanicsburg, OH, were motivated to finally address a longtime problem. They were tired of constantly having to pump water out of the leaking crawl space underneath the home, and they wanted to fix this issue once and for all. The owners contacted Ohio Basement Authority after finding information about us online. They met with one of our inspectors who ventured into the crawl space to evaluate its condition. Along with standing water, our inspector noticed the crawl space was not properly sealed. Our inspector then recommended the perfect repair solutions. One of our crews then waterproofed the crawl space with the CrawlDrain drainage system and SafeDri sump pump, and encapsulated the area in CrawlSeal liner. CrawlDrain was placed in the crawl space floor to catch water from the walls and floor. This water is then directed to the SafeDri Battery Backup System. The SafeDri features two powerful pumps inside its liner, as well as an external backup battery that ensures the system will always operate even during power outages. Drainage matting also was placed on the floor to direct water to the CrawlDrain system, as well as enhance the durability of the encapsulation material. The exterior sump pump discharge line was tied into a new downspout conductor line that was installed in the ground and directed to drain water far away from the house. A YardWell outlet was used to camouflage the end of this line in the yard. The crawl space also was encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner, which completely seals the crawl space and isolates it from the earth. The thick and durable liner also acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and it helps insulate the crawl space. The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these trustworthy repairs have helped them create a safer and healthier living environment.
Egress Window and Well Replaces Older Basement Windows in Urbana, OH

The small windows on one of the foundation walls were dingy, did not let much light into the basement, and the interior pane was showing signs of damage. The owner contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company online. One of our expert crews then removed the older, inefficient windows and installed a new egress window, well, and cover. The egress window serves as an additional secure access point and emergency exit. The light-colored window well lets more sunlight into the basement. After living in their house for several years, homeowners in Christiansburg, OH, wanted to start using their basement as livable space and an area for their children to play. However, various improvements and repairs needed to be completed before doing so. The homeowners contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company through our website. They were eager for us to upgrade one of the older windows into a functional egress window. After removing the glass block window and excavating the area outside the window, one of our expert crews carefully cut into the block foundation wall to make room for the newer, bigger window. The new window’s all-vinyl frame is rust-resistant, and its double-pane glass is energy-efficient. A lightly-colored window well was installed outside the window, which allows more natural light into the basement. A durable clear cover was attached to the well to enhance safety as well as keep leaves, debris and precipitation out of the window well. The homeowners are happy to have an updated basement window system that enhances the safety and appearance of their home.

One of or certified inspectors visited the home to figure out which repairs would be best. He determined that the IntelliBrace system could be used to permanently stabilize these walls. IntelliBrace is a system of steel beams which are custom-fit to a basement's wall height and are anchored to the floor with brackets. They can be tightened over time to reverse wall failure. He said that his crawl space was damp, moldy, humid, full of ground water, and odorous. He also said he "would love to use it for storage," but couldn't because of these conditions. He had it encapsulated in the past by another contractor, but this was a thin, inadequate liner which did not fix the problems. After seeing our ad on TV, this homeowner called us to schedule a free inspection and estimate. One of our certified inspectors visited and explained all of our crawl space encapsulation, insulation, and waterproofing methods. The inspector and homeowner discussed the options and decided on CrawlDrain, CrawlSeal Liner, and a Basement Air System. An expert production crew arrived at the scheduled time to install all of these products. Permanent Basement Waterproofing and Foundation Repair in Urbana, OH
After living in their house for 13 years, homeowners in Urbana, OH, wanted to fix up their basement. They wanted to create a space that would not only be an enjoyable entertainment area, but a healthy area as well. Since they moved into the house, they noticed the basement was humid and smelly, and cracking walls and seeping water also were problems in a few areas. After learning about Ohio Basement Authority online, the owners were eager to contact us to see exactly how we could help them. They met with one of our inspectors who assessed the condition of the basement, and he suggested some of our reliable basement waterproofing and foundation repair solutions. We permanently waterproofed the basement with the BasementGutter interior drainage system and SafeDri sump pump. Designed to sit in the sub-floor, the BasementGutter system catches any seeping water from the walls and floor and directs it to the SafeDri. Equipped with two powerful interior pumps and an external backup battery, the SafeDri will always work to pump this seeping water out of the basement and away from the home’s foundation. Additionally, an FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior sump pump discharge line, and this line was tied into a new downspout conductor line that was installed on the property. A dehumidifier also was installed to clean and filter the air, help control moisture and humidity, and reduce odors and the potential for mold growth. The cracking foundation walls also were reinforced with many Carbon Fiber supports. These heavy-duty supports permanently stabilize the walls where they are installed, and they protect the walls from any further cracking or bowing. The low-profile supports also can easily be concealed with paint, drywall, or other basement finishing materials. The homeowners are pleased to have a safe and stable living environment because of these trustworthy solutions.
Repairing Shifting Garage Walls in Mechanicsburg, OH

A homeowner in Mechanicsburg, OH built his garage in May 2016. Just months later, the walls of the garage began to shift and he became concerned that the walls would eventually fall. Since he was planning on living in his home forever, he decided that this was a necessary fix. He called Ohio Basement Authority after doing an internet search and discovering that we provide free inspections and estimates.

After living in their house for several years, homeowners in Cable, OH, recently ventured into the crawl space for the first time. They were taken aback by what they saw in this area underneath the house including moldy and failing insulation, and failing structural supports. Seeing the latter confirmed that some of the first floor was sagging. The homeowners wanted to address these problems for good, so they began to research potential repairs. They contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company through our website, and they were eager to set up an appointment to meet with one of our experienced inspectors. They were equally excited for one of our crews to transform the nasty crawl space. After removing the debris and other nuisances from the crawl space, the crew replaced the main support beam, which was further enhanced by several IntelliJacks. These heavy-duty supports permanently stabilize the sagging floors and help raise them back to the proper level. They are made of galvanized steel to enhance their durability, as well as resist rust, corrosion and rot. They also are designed to prevent further settling. But if any settling occurs, the IntelliJacks can easily be adjusted. The crawl space was then encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner. This thick and durable liner completely isolates the crawl space from the earth, acts as a moisture and vapor barrier, and helps insulate the crawl space. Vent covers also were placed on the home’s exterior to prevent any outside air, water or pests from entering the crawl space. Mitigating High Radon Levels in Cable, OH
They have lived in their house for 16 years, but it wasn’t until recently that homeowners in Cable, OH, began to question the health and safety of their house. They wondered if radon was affecting their living environment. Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is produced by the decay of uranium in soil and rocks. It cannot be seen, smelled or tasted, but this radioactive gas is very hazardous. Exposure to radon has been linked to more than 20,000 annual deaths, and it is the second leading cause of lung cancer. This greatly concerned the homeowners, so they started to research how to address radon in their home. After administering a test through Alpha Energy, the homeowners were shocked to learn their home’s radon levels ranged from 59 to 89 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). This is considerably higher than the level at which the Environmental Protection Agency recommends mitigating radon, which is 4 pCi/L. Motivated to reduce the home’s radon levels, the owners were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority. After meeting with one of our inspectors, the owners were equally excited for one of our crews to install a radon mitigation system. We did this by drilling a hole in the basement’s concrete slab floor to create a suction point to draw radon from the home. Pipes were connected to this suction point and directed to the home’s exterior. The pipes also were attached to an external ventilation fan, and additional pipes were installed past the roof to safely expel radon from the house. We also encapsulated the crawl space in CrawlSeal liner. Along with completely sealing the crawl space from the earth, CrawlSeal acts as a moisture and vapor barrier that prevents radon intrusion. A post-installation test was conducted approximately one month later. The results indicated the home’s radon levels were 2.1 pCi/L. This is proof that the mitigation system is properly functioning. The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this reliable repair method has helped them create a safer home.
Radon Mitigation in Saint Paris, OH
While they have lived in their house for many years, homeowners in Saint Paris, OH, started to question exactly how healthy their home really was. They wondered if radon was present in their home, and if it was affecting the quality of their living environment. Radon, a radioactive gas produced by the decay of uranium in rocks and soil, is naturally occurring and is present in homes across the globe. It is colorless, odorless and tasteless, making it difficult to detect without the proper testing. Radon also is extremely hazardous. It is a leading cause of lung cancer, and exposure to this gas has been linked to more than 20,000 annual deaths. Radon is measured in picocuries per liter (pCi/L), and the Environmental Protection Agency recommends mitigating radon when levels are above 4 pCi/L. All of these factors greatly concerned the homeowners, so they contacted Ohio Basement Authority for further guidance after learning about our company online. They met with one of our inspectors who reviewed our company’s mitigation procedure with them. One of our crews then installed a radon mitigation system in their home. This involved creating suction points to draw radon from the house and ventilate it outside. One was created by drilling a hole in the basement’s concrete floor, and another was created by drilling a hole in the crawl space’s concrete floor. Ventilation pipes were then attached to these holes and directed to the home’s exterior. There, they connected to a ventilation fan mounted to the side of the house. Additional ventilation pipe was directed up the side of the house and past the home’s roof or safe and effective radon expulsion. The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this reliable repair was completed to help them create a safer and healthier living environment.
