PolyRenewal™ Concrete Leveling & Lifting

The sunken and cracked concrete around your Huron County home is both an eyesore and a safety hazard. It is also likely to get worse, but we can fix it for you. Our experts use PolyRenewal, a superior polyurethane foam. Small holes are drilled in the concrete, the foam is injected and the expanding foam lifts the concrete. The majority of contractors you will call use mudjacking instead of foam. Mudjacking is heavier, require larger holes in the concrete and does not last as long as PolyRenewal. Job Stories From Huron, OH
Egress Window Installation in Willard, OH
After living in their house for almost two years, homeowners in Willard, OH, began to consider various safety aspects around their home. They wanted to have an egress window system installed in their basement. According to the International Residential Code, all habitable spaces, including basements, are required to have at least one operational emergency escape or means of egress. The owners were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority after finding information about our company online. They then met with one of our inspectors, who helped them draw up a plan for the egress window system and its installation. After carefully excavating the area outside where the new window was to be installed, one of our crews carefully cut into the block foundation wall to make room for the new window. The window’s all-vinyl frame is rust-resistant, and its double-pane glass is energy-efficient. A lightly-colored window well was installed outside the window, which allows more natural light into the basement. A durable clear cover was attached to the well to enhance safety as well as keep leaves, debris and precipitation out of the window well. The homeowners are happy to have an updated basement window system that enhances the safety and appearance of their home.
Mitigating Elevated Radon Levels in Norwalk, OH
They have lived in their house for 15 years, but it wasn’t until recently that homeowners in Norwalk, OH, began to question the health and safety of their house. They wondered if radon was affecting their living environment. Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is produced by the decay of uranium in soil and rocks. It cannot be seen, smelled or tasted, but this radioactive gas is very hazardous. Exposure to radon has been linked to more than 20,000 annual deaths, and it is the second leading cause of lung cancer. This greatly concerned the homeowners, so they started to research how to address radon in their home. After administering a test through Alpha Energy, the homeowners were surprised to learn their home’s radon level was 15.5 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). This is almost four times higher than the level at which the Environmental Protection Agency recommends mitigating radon, which is 4 pCi/L. Motivated to reduce the home’s radon levels, the owners were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority. After meeting with one of our inspectors, the owners were equally excited for one of our crews to install a radon mitigation system. We did this by drilling a hole in the basement’s concrete slab floor to create a suction point to draw radon from the home. Pipes were connected to this suction point and directed to the home’s exterior. The pipes also were attached to an external ventilation fan, and additional pipes were installed past the roof to safely expel radon from the house. A domed and sealed lid also was placed on the sump pump system to prevent radon intrusion, and the sump pit also was used as a suction point. The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing this reliable repair method has helped them create a safer forever home.
Radon Mitigation in Norwalk, OH
They have lived in their house for more than 25 years, but homeowners in Norwalk, OH, were growing concerned with the health of their home. They have had multiple pets pass away due to cancer, and the owners wondered if there could be a possible connection to radon. Radon is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless radioactive gas. It is naturally occurring, and is produced by the decay of uranium in rocks and soil. Radon is also extremely hazardous. It is a leading cause of lung cancer, second only to smoking, and is has been linked to more than 20,000 deaths each year. After the homeowners tested their house for radon, the results indicated the home’s levels ranged from 9.1 to 11.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). This is more than double the level at which the Environmental Protection Agency recommends mitigating radon, which is 4 pCi/L. After learning more about Ohio Basement Authority, the homeowners were eager for us to help them create a healthier living environment by installing a radon mitigation system. This involved drilling holes into the basement’s concrete slab floor to create suction points to suck the radon out of the home. Pipe connected to these suction points were directed to the home’s exterior and connected to a ventilation fan. More pipe attached to the fan extended past the roof of the home to safely expel the radon gas outdoors.  A domed and sealed lid also was placed on the sump pump to further prevent radon from entering the home. We also installed a dehumidifier in the basement to help control humidity, clean and purify the air, and reduce odors. The homeowners are happy this reliable installation project was completed so their longtime home will be a safer and healthier living environment for many years to come.
