Concrete Repair With PolyRenewal®!

If you have a concrete sinking problem, we also offer concrete leveling so you can enjoy your driveway, sidewalk or patio again without worry. In the past, contractors relied upon mud jacking (also known as slab jacking, concrete lifting, concrete raising, grout pumping and slab leveling) to level concrete that had settled over time. This entailed pumping concrete slurry under the settled slab to raise it and hoping that the settlement wouldn't continue. At Ohio Basement Authority we use PolyRenewal® because it is a fast & efficient method to raise sinking concrete. This simple foam injection can stabilize your concrete slab for years to come!

Improving the Health of a Home in Powell, OH, with Radon Mitigation and Crawl Space Encapsulation
Upon moving into their house, homeowners in Powell, OH, wanted to make sure the home would be healthy and safe. They were concerned with what the home’s radon levels could be. Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that is produced by uranium decay in rocks and soil. It is naturally occurring and it present across the country. However, radon gas is extremely hazardous. Exposure to radon has been linked to more than 20,000 deaths per year, and it is a leading cause of lung cancer. Radon is particularly dangerous to smokers and former smokers. The homeowners contacted Ohio Basement Authority after learning more about our company online, and we tested the house for radon. The results indicated the home’s radon levels were approximately 10 pCi/L (picocuries per liter). This is more than double the level at which mitigation systems are recommended for homes, which is 4 pCi/L. The owners were eager for us to install a radon mitigation system in their new home. This involved creating suction points to pull radon from out of the home. One suction point was created in the floor of the partial crawl space adjacent to the basement, and a hole was drilled into the basement’s concrete slab floor to create the other suction point. PVC pipe is connected to these holes and directed to the home’s exterior. An exterior fan also is installed to help ventilate the radon gas out of the home. A domed and sealed lid also was placed on the basement’s existing sump pump to prevent radon from infiltrating the home through the system. The homeowners also were concerned with the partial crawl space, so we waterproofed it with the CrawlDrain drainage system and SafeDri sump pump. We also encapsulated the crawl space in CrawlSeal liner. This durable liner serves as a moisture and vapor barrier that also helps insulate the crawl space. The appearance of the crawl space and basement also is improved by the bright white liner. The homeowners now have peace of mind knowing these many reliable repair solutions have helped them create a safer and healthier forever home.
Radon Mitigation and Crawl Space Encapsulation in Powell, OH
They have lived in their house since it was built five years ago, and during the last couple of years, homeowners in Powell, OH, have been thinking about the effects of radon on their living environment. This naturally occurring gas, which is produced by uranium decay in rocks and soil, is colorless, odorless and tasteless. This gas is a health hazard, however, the Environmental Protection Agency estimates radon is responsible for approximately 21,000, or 15 percent, of all lung cancer fatalities every year. Concerned for their personal health and the health of their home, the owners wanted to address the potential presence of radon in their house and take the necessary steps to protect themselves. After testing their home, the results indicated the levels of radon were 8 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). This is double the level at which the EPA recommends installing mitigation systems in homes, which is 4 pCi/L. Once they learned more about Ohio Basement Authority from online resources like Angie’s List, the homeowners contacted us for assistance with addressing their home’s elevated radon levels. We installed a radon mitigation system in their home by creating a suction point in the basement’s concrete slab floor to suck the radon out of the home. Pipe connected to this suction point was directed through the attic and past the roof to safely expel the radon gas outdoors. The partial crawl space also was encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner and a domed and sealed lid was placed on the sump pump to prevent radon from entering the home through these locations. The homeowners are happy these reliable installation projects were completed so their home will be a safer and healthier living environment for many years to come.

Crawl Space Encapsulated with CrawlSeal in Powell, OH
They've lived in the house for several years, but homeowners in Powell, OH, were growing concerned with moisture and rodents in their crawl space. They use the area for storage, but it is an unhealthy environment. Ohio Basement Authority transformed the crawl space by encapsulating it in CrawlSeal liner with drainage matting underneath. Crawl Space Encapsulation and Sump Pump Upgrade in Powell, OH
They have lived in their house for a few years, and during that time, homeowners in Powell, OH, detected problems in the basement. The partial crawl space adjacent to the basement appeared to leak and lack proper insulation, and they wondered how effective the basement’s sump pump system actually was. The owners were eager to contact Ohio Basement Authority after learning about our services. They met with one of our inspectors who evaluated the condition of the crawl space as well as the sump pump in the basement. Our inspector then recommended the perfect repair solutions to improve the home’s heath. Once the debris, failing liner and insulation, and other nuisances were removed from the crawl space, this area was waterproofed with the CrawlDrain drainage system and SafeDri sump pump. Any seeping water will be intercepted by the CrawlDrain system and directed to the SafeDri to be pumped out of the crawl space. Drainage matting was placed on the crawl space floor to help direct water to the CrawlDrain system as well as enhance the durability of the encapsulation material. The crawl space was then encapsulated in CrawlSeal liner, which fully isolates the home from the earth. ExTremeBloc insulation panels also were placed on the walls. The basement’s sump pump system was upgraded to the more reliable SafeDri Battery Backup System, and FreezeGuards were attached to the exterior sump pump discharge lines. The homeowners are happy to have a healthier crawl space and home because of these trustworthy repairs.
Crawl Space Encapsulation Creates a Healthier Storage Space in Powell, OH
Homeowners in Powell, OH, have lived in their home since it was built 30 years ago. While working in the crawl space recently, they noticed problems such as moisture, water intrusion, and unpleasant odors. They use this area just off of the basement for additional storage, so they want to make sure it will be a safe and healthy area to store their belongings. The owners were not impressed by the solutions proposed by another repair company, so they reached out to Ohio Basement Authority to get more information about our repair methods. They were excited about their decision to move forward with our company’s permanent crawl space repair solutions. After removing debris and failing insulation from the crawl space, the CrawlDrain drainage system was installed to intercept any seeping water. This water will then be directed to the SafeDri Pro sump pump, which will pump the water out of the crawl space and away from the home through a discharge line. A FreezeGuard was attached to the exterior discharge line. The crawl space was then encapsulated in durable CrawlSeal liner, which isolates the home from the earth. It also serves as a moisture and vapor barrier, and helps insulate the crawl space. Additional insulation installations included ExTremeBloc panels on the walls and spray foam in the band joists. A dehumidifier also was installed to clean and filter the air, as well as control moisture, humidity and odors. The owners now have peace of mind knowing these installations have helped make their forever home a healthier living environment.

When Greg Y. from Columbus, OH, learned that his house was testing for radon levels way above the 4 pCi/L level considered acceptable for indoor areas, he knew he had to do something to protect his family against the harmful effects of continuous exposure to high levels on radon indoors. Radon is the No. 1 cause of lung cancer among non-smokers in the United States, and according to the Environmental Protection Agency it is linked to approximately 20,000 deaths every year. Greg chose Ohio Basement Authority to handle the radon mitigation project because he felt confident about the company and the system. In this video he talks about the experience. "From the very start to finish, the whole process has been very easy, and I think Ohio Basement Authority did an exceptional job!"
