Yes! We are always looking for remarkable people to join our team. You can browse through our job openings on our Career Opportunities page.

Can I insulate the dirt floor of crawl space under vapor barrier?

Yes you can! We at Ohio Basement Authority offer patented crawl space repair products that will help you do just that! Before we encapsulate crawl spaces, we place thick drainage matting on the dirt crawl space floor to enhance the durability of the CrawlSeal crawl space encapsulation material. We also can place insulation panels on top of the drainage matting before encapsulating the crawl space, as well.

If you are interested in insulating or encapsulating your crawl space, please give us a call! We’d be happy to meet with you to provide you with a free inspection and estimate!

Can you fix a sagging floor?

Yes! If you notice soft, bouncy, uneven and sagging areas of your floor, we can install the IntelliJack® system in your basement or crawl space. Unlike typical jack posts, the heavy-duty IntelliJacks™ resist rust and corrosion, and are designed to stop settlement. Not only can these supports reinforce the floors and floor joists, they also can help raise the floors back to the proper level!

Can you put a dehumidifier in a crawl space?

Yes you can! In fact, we at Ohio Basement Authority offer various energy-efficient dehumidifier models. One of them is the Crawl Space Dehumidifier. This compact, yet powerful unit easily fits inside even small crawl spaces. Your crawl space will be drier and healthier, and so will the rest of your home!
If you are interested in having a dehumidifier installed in your crawl space, please give us a call! We would be happy to meet with you to provide you with a free inspection and estimate!

Do you need a building permit for an egress window?

Typically, every county, township or city we work in requires a permit for egress window installation. This is a good procedure because you want someone to inspect the process of cutting your original foundation and removing soils around your foundation.
Don’t hesitate to contact us if you are interested in an egress window installation! We would be happy to meet with you to provide a free inspection and estimate!

How can I leave a review about you?

We would love to hear your feedback! We are featured on many websites including Angie’s List, the Better Business Bureau and Google. Another easy way to leave a review for us is by filling out the form on our Opinion page.

How do I dry out my crawl space?

If your crawl space is leaking and has problems with standing water and moisture, you need a proper drainage system. One of our crews can install a special perimeter drainage system in your crawl space that will intercept seeping water. This water needs somewhere to go other than saturating your crawl space, and we also can install a sump pump system to pump this water out of the crawl space. It’s also a good idea to install a dehumidifier to control moisture and humidity. We can assist with all of these aspects, so please give us a call so we can help you create a safer and healthier home!

How do you fix cracks in concrete?

Every home is different, but we can address cracking concrete and concrete block foundation walls with various patented repair products. These include supports, IntelliBrace™ beams, Wall Anchors, IntelliJack® stabilizers, and Helical & Push Piers.
Please give us a call as soon as you notice cracks or gaps in foundation walls! Potentially dangerous conditions and costly repairs could result the longer these problems are neglected.

How much do basement foundation repairs need permits in Columbus, Ohio?

Believe it or not, the City of Columbus technically has more than 10 different building departments through different cities in Columbus. Codes typically call for permits if you are repairing the foundation. We check with all the cities to see if permits would be needed. The best thing for a homeowner to do is to check with the city, and make sure the company will be pulling the permit before the project starts. If your home is in need of foundation repair, please give us a call! One of our expert inspectors would be glad to provide you with a free inspection and estimate, as well as further explain the permit process.

I just received a notice from the City about a break in our sewer or water line. What should I do?

Give Ohio Basement Authority a call! We can schedule one of our inspectors to visit your home and help locate the leak or break in the sewer and/or water line. Then, we can schedule a date for one of our crews to install newer, thicker, more reliable pipe for these essential lines serving your home.

What is a French drain?

A French drain – also known as a weeping tile, drain tile or sub-surface drain – is a common solution for waterproofing a basement. It’s a trench containing a perforated pipe that redirects surface water and groundwater away from the foundation. This type of drainage system can be an effective way to redirect water, but it also has several disadvantages including difficulty of install, expensive maintenance and frequent clogging.

We offer different types of interior French drain systems that are much more effective, efficient and easy to maintain. These include the sub-floor BasementGutter™ perimeter drainage system and grated drainage pipe.

What is an egress window?

Egress windows enhance the appearance, as well as safety, of basement windows. They are also ideal emergency exit points for basements. The windows, window wells, and well covers are durable and secure.

The International Residential Code for One-and Two-Family Dwellings states that all habitable spaces, including basements, are required to have at least one operable emergency escape and rescue opening. So if you’re planning to use your basement as a bedroom or entertainment space, give us a call! Our expert inspectors can provide you with an estimate for installing one of our various egress window systems.

What is the best basement waterproofing method?

The best way to waterproof a basement is by taking an interior approach. Our expert crews can install the sub-floor BasementGutter™ drainage system to intercept any leaking water from the basement walls and floor. This water is then directed to a sump pump system to be pumped out of the basement and away from your home’s foundation. We also offer a variety of sump pumps to meet your waterproofing and budget needs! Contact us to set up an appointment with one of our inspectors who can help in choosing the right interior waterproofing system for you!

What is the minimum size of an egress window well?

An egress window must satisfy International Residential Code (IRC) criteria. Minimum width of opening: 20 in. Minimum height of opening: 24 in. Minimum net clear opening: 5.7 sq. ft.
We can provide you with a free inspection and estimate if you are interested in having an egress window installed. Please give us a call!

Why does my basement leak every time it rains?

If your foundation walls were constructed with concrete or concrete block, it is easy for rain water saturating the ground to pass through concrete and find its way inside your home. Block wall cavities can fill with water, thus soaking the concrete and seeping through to the home. Water also can push its way through the basement’s wall-floor joint and flood the basement.
If you find yourself dealing with wet walls or puddles on the floor during and after storms, give us a call! We can provide you with a free inspection and estimate, as well as patented repair solutions that will give you peace of mind and a dry basement.
